At a meeting of the West Parley Parish Council Planning Committee on 6th April, a briefing was given by way of update by a representative from the applicants Enviromena.

The site covers some 166 acres (the rough equivalent of 75 football pitches) and the solar panels have a life span of some 40 years.

There will now be 15% fewer ‚ÄėSolar modules‚Äô and the storage capacity for the power generated, will be stored off site. Some 50,000MWh will be generated over the course of a year.

Greenfield Site

Approval if given DOES NOT in planning terms enable this current greenfield site to be designated brownfield, and thus be considered for housing/industrial use, later.

A new cycle path

The firm have also agreed to further conditions in respect of landscaping and maintenance of hedgerows etc. A new cycle path is proposed linking this part of Parley to the Wimborne Road, near Ensbury sewerage filter station off Whitelegg Way.They have also agreed to discuss compensation payments with the Parish Councils of Hurn and West Parley, prior to the application being applied for.

Final decision yet to be made by BCP

The final decision maker is BCP Council but your local Parish Council continues to monitor the application.
